Dar Al Waha

Dar Al Waha is a courtyard house in Al Awir First, built from rock-faced sandstone and sculpted concrete breeze blocks beneath a thin, floating concrete roof. From the street it reads as a composition of solid walls and screens: closed to the road, open within.

Behind the walls, the house unfolds around its courtyards: an entrance garden of gravel and stepping stones, and a sheltered court with a fire pit and a window seat framing an olive tree. Desert planting of agave, grasses and acacia carries the landscape up to the stone, and the interiors continue the palette in travertine and warm timber.
